Colorado Springs District Eleven members were involved in an all district elementary strings concert on Sat., February 19, 2005. Over 800 kids and 2000 parents were there for the event. Visit here to see us!

Palmer High Student, James Foster is the lone representative from Colorado in the US Youth Ensembles Orchestra. James is a junior at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. He currently plays string bass in the Palmer Chamber Orchestra and Pikes Peak Philharmonic. Last year James was chosen by audition to participate in the Colorado All State Orchestra held in Boulder in January. This honor put him on a national list of students to be contacted and auditioned for the USA National High School Orchestra. This US Youth Ensembles group also has an National Choir and Band. James has been playing string bass for the past eight years. He started playing bass in fourth grade at Steele Elementary with Mr. Dave DiCocco. He attend North Middle School where he continued bass with Mr. Daryl Counsell & Mr. Dan Mays, as directors. He currently is a junior at Palmer High School in the orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Alice Caplinger. Mr. Foster has taken private bass instruction under Mr. John Michael for the past five years. He also is performing with the Pikes Philharmonic under the direction of Dr. Mark Hudson. The USA National High School Orchestra was hosted at the Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield Massachusetts out of Boston, where students spent two rigorous days rehearsing for their trip to Europe. The National Orchestra traveled to Austria, Germany, France, Italy, and Belgium in July.
