Mike Nelson, Denver Metro Area CASTA Representative

Mike is currently teaching strings to 4th through 12th grade students in the Bear Creek articulation area in Jefferson County Public Schools. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from DePaul University in Chicago, IL in 1995. After receiving his degree, Mike moved to Colorado and began to teach strings here. He has played viola in the Little Symphony, Jefferson Symphony, and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra here in Colorado. In addition to teaching public school, Mike teaches private violin and viola students, plays in a Scottish fiddle band, plays with the DaCapo String Quartet, and enjoys fostering dogs and helping out at the local animal shelter. Mike has also earned his Master's degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.
